How to apply

  1. Use the official NZeTA app (cheaper, and can cover up to 10 people) or the official website, nzeta.immigration.govt.nz.
  2. Pay the NZeTA fee and, if you’re visiting rather than transiting Auckland, the NZD 100 visitor levy at the same time.
  3. Apply at least 72 hours before you travel.

Children

Children need their own NZeTA, including a child listed in a parent’s passport.

If you’re only changing planes

Yes. Visa-waiver travelers need an NZeTA to transit Auckland International Airport (up to 24 hours, staying in the transit area); no visitor levy is charged for that. Auckland is the only New Zealand airport with a transit area: connecting anywhere else counts as visiting.

If it’s refused

If you don’t meet the requirements, you need to apply for a visa before you travel.
