How to apply
- Apply only at indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/, between 120 and 4 days before you arrive, and pay the fee at least 4 days before travel.
- Choose 30 days, 1 year or 5 years. The 30-day e-Visa allows multiple entries within 30 days of first arrival.
- Arrive at one of the designated airports or seaports listed on the official site. You can leave from any immigration checkpoint.
- Before you fly, also fill in India’s e-Arrival Card (within 72 hours before arrival) on the official site or the official “Indian Visa Su-Swagatam” app.

Each child needs their own passport and their own e-Visa. A child’s passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
If you’re only changing planes
India’s Bureau of Immigration says no visa is needed for a direct air transit of up to 24 hours if you stay within the airport. Leaving the airport, or a longer transit, needs a visa.
If it’s refused
The official site says the fee is not refunded whether the e-Visa is granted or refused. You can apply for a regular visa through an Indian embassy or consulate instead.
